On Monday 1st July we held a charity fun day at our Head Office in Cwmbran, South Wales, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
One in two people will be get cancer in their lifetime and a few colleagues here at HWM have personal experiences with cancer, so everyone was on board to try and raise as much money as possible.
The afternoon began with a bake sale, where all manor of beautiful cakes and treats were on offer, as well as a variety of posh coffees. The bake sale was followed by a fantastic raffle with over 40 prizes available, generously provided by our employees and some local businesses.
Once the cakes were sold and the raffle was over, it was time to put our Managing Director Rob Fish into the stocks!
There was a big queue of people willing to part with their cash to throw wet sponges at Rob, including Constance Baroudel, Divisional Chief Executive of Halma PLC, who was sure not to miss when presented with the opportunity!
After Rob was finally let out of the stocks, we were treated to Gavin Orr and Mick Bolton’s “tribute” to ABBA, which certainly left the crowd wanting more. The costumes and make-up were flawless, but the routine may need a little more work if they are aiming to make it through to Bootcamp and the Live Shows!
Finally, to top the day off, the members of the HWM Board of Directors were subjected to the Ice Bucket Challenge. Graciously they joined in and each ended up soaking wet, but it was for a great cause.
The day was a great success, in which we raised over £2,000 for Cancer Research UK thanks to the generosity of the whole HWM team.
